Miami Medical: New Executive Producer’s Blog Up

In anticipation of tonight’s episode, Executive Producer Jeffrey Lieber has a new post up on his Miami Medical blog today.

Here’s what he has to say:

Hello, again. Welcome to the pre-game tailgate. Brats and burgers on the table. Tofu-dogs will be out in a second.

Episode #7, Man In The Road, was conceived early on… or at least the Dr. Proctor part of it was (the trauma and patients came later). It was in the very first packet of stories submitted to the network BEFORE we even got picked up for the season and stayed virtually the same throughout the development of the script. Without giving too much away, the pitch involved evolving the way we use our tease AND using that evolution as a way into… Proctor’s scar. So, Friday, you’re going to get that fleshed out.

What happened to Doc Proc? We can cross off at least one possibility. He wasn't impaled by a meteorite, according to Lieber

This episode was directed by our in-house DP (Director of Photography) Eagle Egilsson and so there are a ton of incredibly cool visuals. One shot… again trying not to spoil anything… of snow falling over a body… caused a bunch of us to end up crowded around a laptop watching and rewinding and watching and rewinding and watching and rewinding.

As alluded to above, the trauma incidents were developed by all of us in the room. The plane crash (its all over the trailer, so not a surprise) was incredibly cool to shoot. We took airplane parts out to what used to be a duck farm (which doubled for the everglades). The episode was shot during Thanksgiving and we had only one day to get it all done. Note to self for season #2… big traumas… get filmed in JULY when there are MORE hours of sunlight.

As for the other patient… well his introduction is fantastic. That’s all I’ll say.

So, snuggle up on the couch. Invite a friend or two. Enjoy. And let us know what you think. HONESTLY. We really do like hearing from you.
